“These are the persons David appointed to lead the singing in the house of GOD...” I Chronicles 6:31a

King David set apart designated artists from among the tribe of Levi. These people were ministers first and artists second. At Dogwood, we are not just seeking talented artists, but first and foremost, ministers.

The Worship Team is an auditioned group of singers that lead worship on mic during our weekend services and special events. These vocalists must be confident singers capable of learning music quickly and able to emulate contemporary vocal styles.

The Worship Band is a pool of auditioned instrumentalists from which we make up our rhythm section typically consisting of acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, drums and keyboard. These instrumentalists play in our worship services and special events and must be able to read charts and improvise in an appropriate contemporary musical style.

For Children’s Music, the Worship Ministry partners with E-Zone, our ministry to elementary students, in creating a fun, vibrant and exciting atmosphere for kids in first through fifth grades. Occasionally, we involve this talented group in our worship services and other special events.

One of the ways we ensure that the members of Dogwood’s Creative Team are ministers is by requiring membership in Dogwood Church. It is expected that members of any Creative Team attend the Belong seminar and sign the membership covenant within 6 months of participating in any on stage ministry opportunity. Contact Elaine Gardner in the church office for information or to sign up for the next Belong seminar.
